Woking's New Cinema Club presents a Tribute to leading French Film Director, Jacques Demy with his most magical film and a delightful new one by his wife about his early life.Demy's wife is Agnes Varda, a major film maker in her own right, and her film, ""Jacquot de Nantes"" recently had its British premiere. It is the touching story of young Jacquot growing up in Nantes in the 1930's. He is obsessed with the cinema whereas his parents want him to learn a ""proper"" trade. The atmosphere of pre-war France is beautifully captured in a tale as tender and enchanting in its own original way as ""Cinema Paradiso"". |
