Socialite Tracy Lord (Katharine Hepburn) is set to marry politician George Kittredge. When her irresponsible ex-husband C.K. Dexter Haven (Cary Grant) arrives with 'Spy' magazine reporter Macauley Connor (an Oscar winning James Stewart) and photographer Liz Imbrie (Ruth Hussey) in tow, she decides to give them a story they will remember.
