WNCC's tribute to the late Walter Matthau is his first diversion from comic roles, playing the title role of an itinerant cropduster and bank robber, the self-styled 'last of the independents' who inadvertently steals a mafia payroll and gets chased across several states by a deranged hitman (Joe Don Baker) for his trouble.
