During the 1988 'Velvet Revolution' in Prague, a classical musician ekes out a living playing at funerals. In desperation he accepts money to marry a Russian, only to be left with her 5-year old son, Kolya, when she escapes to Germany. The problem is, he doesn't like kids and the kid doesn't speak Czech. Winner of the Best Foreign Film Oscar in 1997.
