Synopsis:

Burt Lancaster (in his screen debut), Ava Gardner and Edmund O'Brien star in this compelling_ crime drama, adapted by Robert Siodmak from an Ernest Hemingway short story which-begins with the murder of an ex-boxer and follows the subsequent insurance investigation by O'Brien. A classic 'film noir', not least for its much imitated 'Dragnet'-style score by Miklos Rozsa.
